Tale of Heroic Sons and Daughters, Volume 1
Tale of Heroic Sons and Daughters (兒女英雄傳)
Thirteenth Sister is a swordswoman travelling under a false name to avenge her father. At a lonely inn she rescues the gentle young scholar An Ji from bandit monks, and the story of the two of them, chivalry and family, sword and examination hall, unfolds in the lively spoken Beijing of the nineteenth century. Tale of Heroic Sons and Daughters is one of the most entertaining of all Chinese novels, the ancestor of the martial-arts heroine. This first volume begins with An Ji's journey to rescue his father and the famous fight at the Nengren Temple. This complete new English translation is published in four volumes; this is Volume 1 of 4, and the whole set is also available as a bundle.
